Use of the outdoor environment will be encouraged with the inclusion of soccer fields, tot lots, picnic and sitting areas, ample green space, and extensive use of greenbelts to which each home has direct rear access.
Scott AFB is located about 21 miles east of St. Louis near Belleville, Illinois. The Shiloh entrance (Main gate) is located 2.5 miles southeast of O'Fallon and 1.5 miles southeast of Interstate 64 at Illinois 158.
St. Louis has many family attractions, such as The Missouri Botanical Gardens, Butterfly House, Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame, The St. Louis Science Center and many others.
Located in the Central Time Zone, Scott AFB weather includes four definite seasons. During the summer months, air originating from the Gulf of Mexico tends to dominate the area, producing warm conditions; however, extremely hot temperatures (100 degrees or more) are expected on no more than five days per year. Winters are brisk and stimulating, but prolonged periods of extremely cold weather are rare. Rarely does the temperature drop to zero or below and temperatures as cold as 32 degrees or lower occur less than 25 days in most years. Snowfall of an inch or less is received on 5 to 10 days in most years. The wettest months, May and June, average four inches of rainfall each. The average annual precipitation is 38 inches.
